Important Notice
From 16th March 09 Applicant holding Indian Passport applying for first time Tourist Visa Require to submit Original Bank Certificate with minimum balance of Rs 1.5 lacs.
Tourist and family visit visa (L-visa) is issued to a foreign citizen who comes to China for tourist purpose, family visit or other personal affairs.
Please provide the following documents:
(i) Original passport which has more than 6 months left before it expires from the date of application for a visa and sufficient blank visa pages.
(ii) One completed Visa Application Form (e-Form / Download) with a recently-taken passport photo; all the items on the application form should be completed neatly with genuine information; if the applicant has a Chinese name, the Chinese name should be filled in; false or incomplete information and illegible characters may lead to refusal of a visa.
(iii) Proof of sufficient finances to cover all expenditures in China when requied.
(iv) Confirmed return flight ticket and its photocopy.
(v) Covering letter from applicant’s company or office.
(vi) Photocopy of personal data page of applicant’s passport.
Applying Tourist Visa for Visiting Families, the following documents are required:
(1) Covering letter from applicant’s company or office.
(2) Proof that you have a genuine ongoing relationship with the person inviting you in China and the copy of valid resident permit.
(3) Invitation letter from your relatives.
(4) Comfirmed return flight ticket and its photocopy.
(5) Photocopy of the personal data page of applicant’s passport.
(vi) An applicant holding a passport other than Indian passport should provide the original and a copy of their permanent residence or work permit which should be valid for at least half a year (except for those who are visa or permit exempt for residing or working in India);
(vii) Tourists planning to visit Tibet should contact the Tourism Administration of the Tibet Autonomous Region (Tel: 0086-891-6834313; Fax: 0086-891-6834632) and provide visa notification issued by it.
(iv) Foreigners applying for special tour to China should provide visa notification issued by China National Tourism Administration or the tourism administration of related province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government. Special tour includes: self-driving, hiking, cycling, horse-riding, hot air balloon, or other expeditions.
Method and Time for submission of applications
(i) Method: An applicant may submit his or her visa application to the Centre in person or entrusts someone or a travel agent to submit on his or her behalf. You may book in advance via the Centre's website for submission. You may be required to go to the Chinese Embassy or the Chinese Consulate General for an interview if the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General deems it necessary.
(ii) Time: Regular visa processing time is 4 working days. The Centre also offers next working day service (you will have to submit your application before 11:00 a.m). For the next working day service, visa will be ready for collection at 2:00 p.m. on the second working day.

Notes: 1. Visa Fees are collected on behalf of the Chinese Embassy or the
Chinese Consulate General.
2. Application Service Fees are charged by the Centre.
3. The total amount of the fees to be paid by an applicant = visa fees +
application service fees.
(iv) Unless specifically requested by the applicant in his or her completed application form and approved by consular officers, a single-entry visa is valid for 3 months, and a double-entry visa valid for 6 months, both with a 30-day duration of stay.
(v) Consular officers decide on the visa's period of validity, duration of stay and number of entry in the light of China's laws and regulations.
(vi) Whether a visa is to be issued or not to be issued, and what type of visa to be issued shall be decided by Consular officers in the light of China's relevant laws and regulations.
Please Note:
(i) Please apply for a visa about one month in advance of your intended date of entry into China, and do not apply 3 months earlier than your intended date of entry into China. You should take upon yourself any consequences resulting from your failure to submit visa application at an appropriate time, which may lead to either your already-issued visa becoming expired or it would be too late to get a visa before your planned departure date.
(ii) The visa application form should be fully filled in and signed by the applicant upon completion (application for an applicant under 18 years of age should be signed by one of his or her parents). Items which are not applicable should be filled in with N/A.
(iii) Consular officers may request an applicant to provide additional supporting documents. The applicant should provide this as soon as possible.
